Putney, Inc. Announces Expansion of Board of Directors

Portland, Maine - August 2, 2007 - Putney, Inc. today announced the expansion of its Board of Directors following the successful closing of its Series A funding round. Jean Hoffman, Chairman, CEO and founder of Putney said, "We are privileged to have four seasoned pharmaceutical industry veterans join me on our Board to guide Putney's strategy in the generic animal health sector."
Jean Hoffman, prior to founding Putney, founded Q Street Advisors, a transaction and strategy consulting firm focused on the global generic and API pharma sectors. She was also the founder, Chairman and CEO of Newport Strategies, the world leader in licensing and business development databases for global generic pharma. She sold Newport to Thomson (NYSE: TOC) in 2004. Ms. Hoffman's career spans 25+ years of leadership and strategy in the global human and vet generics and API pharmaceutical sectors.
Frank Becker, who joined Putney's Board in 2006, is a member of the board and former Chairman of NeoPharm, Inc. (NASDAQ: NEOL) and the President of Greenfield Chemical, Inc., a pharmaceutical consulting and sourcing company. Mr. Becker served as President and COO and a Director of Sicor Pharmaceuticals prior to Sicor's acquisition by Teva. He spent more than 35 years at Abbott with roles including Vice President of Abbott Animal Health and Vice President of Process Research and Chemical Manufacturing.
Shyam Bhartia is a leading industrialist of India with experience in the pharmaceutical and specialty chemicals, food, oil and gas (exploration and production), aerospace and IT sectors. Mr. Bhartia is the Chairman and Managing Director of Jubilant Organosys Ltd., an Indian headquartered, public, integrated pharma company. Mr. Bhartia has spearheaded Jubilant's growth to become the largest Custom Research and Manufacturing Services (CRAMS) business in India and its acquisitions of Hollister-Stier and Tri-Gen (now Cadista) in the U.S.
Michael Burke is a member of the founding executive team and Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Ovation Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a leading specialty biopharmaceutical company. Before joining Ovation, Mr. Burke held various leadership roles at Abbott managing specialty market and primary care product lines, including Director of the Neuroscience Business Unit where he managed the largest and most profitable specialty product line. Prior to Abbott, Mr. Burke was founder/president of Athwell, a health promotion consulting company.
Barry Edwards is a consultant serving manufacturer, distributor and investment firm clients with respect to the U.S. generic/specialty pharmaceutical market. Mr. Edwards was previously CEO of Impax Laboratories (IPXL), a public, technology based specialty pharmaceutical company. During his tenure at Impax, Mr. Edwards grew the company to $200 million in sales and was a key player in raising $500 million. Prior to Impax, Mr. Edwards spent more than 20 years with Teva, where his last position was Vice President of Marketing and Business Development.
