Date: July 7, 2009

Portland, Maine—July 7, 2009— Putney, Inc., a pharmaceutical company focused on the development of generic and specialty drugs for pets, continues to expand its customer support capabilities with the addition of Elizabeth Johnson, VMD, as Manager of Veterinary Services. In this newly created position, Dr. Johnson will be responsible for veterinary customer medical and technical support, and will provide strategic input into future product development programs.

Dr. Johnson was most recently a veterinarian at Harleysville Veterinary Hospital in Pennsylvania where she managed emergencies, chronic illnesses, and routine care of companion animals. Jean Hoffman, CEO of Putney, feels Dr. Johnson's practical experience and technical expertise offers key support to veterinarians. "Dr. Johnson provides Putney's veterinary customers with direct access to a peer who will be able to discuss our FDA veterinary approved products with a working knowledge of the medical and business issues facing veterinary practices," says Hoffman. Johnson will also provide input into portfolio development, ensuring that future product selection and optimization fulfill unmet veterinarian needs.

"Putney is committed to supporting companion animal veterinarians and the health and growth of their practices," adds Dr. Johnson. "I look forward to introducing Putney's current and future products—quality, affordable generics—to my peers so they can practice medicine based on the needs of their pet patients and not the cost of treatment."
