Putney's Economic Growth Recognized by Maine's Deparment of Economic Development

The Pine Tree Development Zone designation recognizes Putney’s planned corporate growth and rewards Putney with an annual tax incentive for five years. Thaxter Trafton, Commissioner of the DECD, conferred the award to Jean Hoffman, CEO of Putney, in a ceremony held today at Putney headquarters in downtown Portland. Trafton called Putney’s job creation in Portland’s growing biotechnology sector “good news” for the state of Maine. “The Pine Tree Development Zone program supports businesses, like Putney, that drive Maine’s economic engine and generate secure jobs for Maine’s future. Putney’s multi-million dollar investment in new product development means years of growth and expansion for Putney and for Maine,” said Trafton.
In accepting the award Hoffman said that the Maine-based international company has benefited from its location. “Putney’s strength is in its pipeline of veterinary pharmaceutical products, but our success is based on our people.
