Putney Singled Out as Inc. 5000 Applicant of the Week

Date: February 18, 2011

Portland, Maine—February 18, 2011— Putney, Inc., a rapidly growing pet pharmaceutical company focused on the development and sale of generic prescription medicines for pets, has been chosen by Inc. magazine as the Inc. 5000 Applicant of the Week for the week of February 14, 2011. The magazine cited Putney’s 58% compound annual growth over the last year as one reason Putney caught its eye. The Inc. 5000 list is a financial ranking of the fastest-growing private companies in the United States.

Jean Hoffman, Putney’s CEO, credits the company’s growth to its targeted strategy to develop and commercialize drugs for pets, a billion dollar plus, underserved market. Currently, 94% of FDA Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) approved pet medicines have no generic available. Hoffman notes that Putney’s real growth is yet to come. “Our commitment to research and development has provided us with the deepest pipeline of pet drugs in the industry. We are poised for explosive growth, as our products complete CVM’s regulatory review process,” says Hoffman.

The Inc. 5000 list will be published on August 24, 2011 on Inc.com and the top 500 applicants will be profiled in the September issue of Inc. magazine. Putney’s spotlight story may be read in its entirety on the Inc. site.
