Putney Hires VP of Sales to Drive Aggressive Growth

Company will continue to expand sales and marketing team to launch new products
Portland, Maine—May 2, 2011— Putney, Inc., a rapidly growing pet pharmaceutical company focused on the development and sale of generic prescription medicines for pets, has hired Patrick Powell as vice president of sales. In his new position, Powell will grow sales of existing Putney veterinary approved products and drive rapid adoption of new products as they are launched upon approval by FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine.
Jean Hoffman, CEO of Putney, says Powell’s extensive experience and record of performance in sales, sales management and distributor relations is key to carrying out Putney’s strategic plan. “We expect veterinary generics to succeed like human generics – where 78% of all prescriptions are filled by a generic drug – and are excited about providing the best options for the best veterinary medicine to help pet owners afford to treat their pets,” says Hoffman.
Powell brings 20 years of sales experience in the animal health industry, most recently as director of sales, east region for Bayer Animal Health. Previously, Powell delivered 8 years of growth as a member of Fort Dodge Animal Health’s industry leading commercial organization. His thorough understanding of veterinary practice needs – both his dad and brother are veterinarians – and his broad industry contacts will allow him to build win/win relationships with Putney’s channel partners and veterinary customers.
