Date: June 20, 2011

Portland, Maine—June 20, 2011— Putney, Inc., a rapidly growing pet pharmaceutical company focused on the development and sale of generic prescription medicines for pets, has hired David Doll as senior vice president of business development. In his new position, Doll will accelerate Putney’s growth by developing and commercializing new product and partnership opportunities.

Jean Hoffman, CEO of Putney, says Doll brings strategic insight, financial intellect, and creative negotiation skills to the table. “With Dave’s experience and expertise, Putney can now pursue companion animal product licensing or acquisition deals that will immediately expand our product line.” Hoffman adds that Putney will continue to develop new FDA-approved generic pharmaceuticals for pets to deliver from its R&D pipeline.

Doll has over twenty- seven years of experience in the pharmaceuticals industry, primarily in the human generics sector. His career includes tenures at Impax Laboratories Inc. , Merck & Co., Inc., and TEVA Pharmaceuticals USA. As executive vice president, commercial operations, at Impax, Doll was responsible for long term development and supply agreements with seven separate pharmaceutical companies. In 2008, he started his own company, Doll Consulting, LLC, where he continues to be the majority stakeholder.

Doll says the veterinary generics pharmaceutical market is poised for rapid growth, similar to that experienced in the human generics pharmaceutical market twenty-five years ago; today 78% of all human prescriptions are filled by a generic. “Putney is at the right place, at the right time. There’s a real need for generics in the veterinary market space, and no other company has focused on generics like Putney,” says Doll.
